About Us
Bookadee is more than a store with children’s books. We also carry toys and games that encourage the healthy development of our children. These books and gifts are for children ages infant to young adult. Some toys and games are available for hands on interaction throughout the store. We also have a small selection of books for the adults and several seating areas that will allow for browsing comfort! Come in and enjoy the Bookadee experience!
If you don't see a book you're looking for, simply tell us what it is and we'll order it in for you along with our bi-weekly book order! We charge nothing extra for this service and our orders arrive in as little as 1-2 days from the order date!
We also offer Bookadee’s Backyard as a place to hold your child’s birthday party! If you are looking for a simple, no-hassle, no set-up, no clean-up space then we have the perfect place for your next birthday! Please consider our Backyard for other small events as well.
About the Owners
Tora Buffington, owner and manager of Bookadee, was born in Minnesota and raised in Minnesota, Indiana, Wyoming, and South Dakota. Being curled up, stretched out, or sitting tall and reading is one of her favorite childhood memories.
Brian Buffington, part owner and assistant manager, was born and raised in Forest City, IA. Being a part of his mother’s business, an in-home daycare, is one of his favorite childhood memories.
Brian and Tora have five children ages 9 months, 4, 6, 8, and 9 yrs. Tora is ecstatic that her passion for reading is, so far, being successfully instilled in her children!
Opening a children’s bookstore seemed to be a natural baby step along the adventurous road that is their life. It has been a fun and exciting experience and they are positive it will continue to be so. Brian and Tora hope that the Bookadee experience can become a favorite memory for you and your children!
